oil and wood, 2012
Anatomy of a Painting / Diary Remains is a two-part installation composed of several crumpled "skins" of oil painting that were removed from their support and pinned to pieces of wood. This work attempts to address the fragility of the painting medium, and concurrently, its helplessness when conveying a forgettable memory. Every single painting documents the same unidentifiable, ordinary place. The pieces are displayed in different shelves of wood: one that mimics an artifact display and a second one, which is arranged as a physical reference to the place depicted in the painting.
